Luxembourger Charel Grethen managed to qualify for the 1500m finals in Tokyo and a fast paced race proved too quick for the CSL athlete.

The whole of the Duchy will be behind the young athlete, and so too (hopefully) the majority of the other finalists as Grethen attempts to bring home a shock result.

Getting this far is already ahead of Grethen's own targets, as the CSL runner was here to run for himself...whatever happened, happened, yet here he is in 1500m final. A feat not achieved since the late great Josy Barthel, who won Gold at the 1952 Helsinki Games.

Presumably, should the unlikely happen, Grethen will be wanting his name on a few roads and the National Stadium.
