With cultural events relaunching in Luxembourg and requiring either a vaccination, negative test or Covid recovery for entry, Luxembourgers are actively making use of the CovidCheck app. But what if you live abroad?

To attend cultural events in Luxembourg, visitors must either have been vaccinated for 14 days with both vaccine doses (or one dose in the case of J&J), carry a certified negative test certificate (72 hours old for PCR tests, 48 hours for rapid antigen tests), or prove that they have recovered from coronavirus within 11-180 days of testing positive.

Once completed, the person receives a paper with a QR code, which can be scanned by the free CovidCheck app, saved, and presented to venues at the door.

But what if you live abroad, and don't make use of the Luxembourgish CovidCheck app? The alternative is the EU Digital Covid Certificate, which allows EU citizens and residents to be verified across the EU.

National authorities are in charge of issuing the certificate. For example, people that complete a certified rapid test in Germany will receive a paper with a QR code that contains the essential information for the EU Digital Covid Certificate app to register.

Some organisers and restaurants allow for self-tests to be completed at the door, prior to entry, completed by the visitors themselves. These may not always be free of charge, however.

Visitors are advised to contact the organiser and check the event website.
