The band's name was taken from the West Indian folktales of Anansi the Spider-Man, with a slight change of spelling and "Skunk" added to make the name nastier.

Forming in London in the spring of 1994, Skunk Anansie melded together rock, punk, dub, reggae and electronica influences and quickly built a reputation as a formidable live act.

The quartet – comprising vocalist Skin, guitarist Ace, bassist Cass and drummer Mark Richardson (who had a stint in Feeder too) – released their debut album, Paranoid & Sunburnt in 1995. Their rise was meteoric.

Stoosh followed in 1996, then Post Orgasmic Chill in 1999.

Along the way, they achieved a dozen chart singles before announcing their split in 2001.

Now on an anniversary tour of sorts, Skunk Anansie will bring their greatest hits to Rockhal's.....erm....halls and remind your just what a monstrous live act they were...ARE!
