Ahead of the next RootsTown festival (14 September 2019 for those of you keen to jot down the date), the organisers have announced a pre-fest party at De Gudde Wëllen on Friday 5 April 2019.
RootsTown Festival, created by the members of two non-profit organisations De Läbbel and Itinerantes, explores urbanism and the environment alongside the sounds of hip hop and reggae.
As the organisers write, "The festival provides an ideal platform to create bridges between these different perspectives which might seem quite disparate at first sight, but which do have a lot in common. Both the musical program of RootsTown Festival and its side activities are ideal to raise the awareness of the broader public about topics that are important and impending for the future of Luxembourg, of Europe and beyond; and which are rooted in both our collective past and our individual experiences. Environmental protection and urban life are closely linked topics, that are often approached from a political and legal perspective."
Whilst the third edition of the festival may not be on the horizon until September, those hoping to get involved in Luxembourg's hip hop and reggae scene can have a taster on Friday at the pre-fest party. Friday's event will showcase local talents and guest musicians from the Greater Region.
In light of the organisers' new partnership with EPIQUR, a specialised music live streaming platform, the event will also be EPQUR's beta stage launch.
