Luxembourgish film Sawah, released last April, won over the audience at the Arabic Film Festival in Fameck.
Luxembourgish director Adolf El Assal's new film Sawah, which has already collected a number of prizes and been screened at over forty international festivals, won the audience award at the Arabic Film Festival in Fameck, France. Another Luxembourgish production, Tel Aviv on Fire, was also on show. The festival closed yesterday, with its Grand Prix being awarded to the Tunisian film Fatwa.
Sawah will be released across the Arab world, France and Belgium in early 2020, and elsewhere soon after. It has been out in Luxembourg since March.

The film tells the story of an Egyptian DJ who finds himself trapped in the Grand Duchy on his way to an international competition in Belgium. While a revolution breaks out in his home country, the main character uses his know-how to cross the Belgian border to reach his destination.
Sawah was produced by Luxembourgish companies Wady Films and Deal Productions, with the help of Belgian firm Caviar and Egypt's Film Clinic, and the support of Film Fund Luxembourg.
