RTL and the Centre for Audiovisual Content (CNA) have provided us with another glimpse into the past, this time focusing on the Belgian Formula 1 Grand-Prix in Spa.

The race was held on 3 June 1956, the same year Juan Manuel Fangio became world champion for the fourth time in his career. It was the only title Fangio won inside a Scuderia Ferrari.

Unfortunately, the vehicle had a transmission failure during the event in Spa, which meant that Fangio had to abandon the race after 24 rounds despite being in the lead at the time.

Rival Stirling Moss lost a tyre during the eleventh lap of the race. However, the British driver was able to re-enter the race with his team mate's Maserati and still make it to the podium.

In the end, the Grand-Prix was won by Peter Collins from Great Britain, followed by Paul Frère from Belgium, and Stirling Moss from Great Britain.
