RTL and the centre for audiovisual content (CNA) have provided us with another glimpse into the past, this time focusing on the festivities of the country's national holiday, celebrated in 1966.
This week's edition shows an RTL Television report on Duke's Day, commented by Jacques Navadic. The birth of the sovereign has been celebrated annually since the 19th century. For almost the entirety of Grand Duchess Charlotte's reign, that day was 23 January.
However, as of 1961, festivities have been held on 23 June due to better weather conditions. The day has remained the official date of the public holiday ever since.
