A public transport bus caught fire Wednesday afternoon on Avenue Gaston Diderich, prompting emergency response and road closures in the Belair neighbourhood.
The incident occurred shortly after 2pm when the driver noticed significant smoke emanating from the rear of the vehicle.
The operator immediately pulled over and evacuated passengers before alerting emergency services. Luxembourg City firefighters responded within minutes, containing the blaze at the vehicle’s rear section. While the fire has been brought under control, crews remain on scene as a precaution against potential reignition.
Authorities have closed Avenue Gaston Diderich to all traffic between Avenue des Archiducs and Rue des Franciscaines while cleanup operations continue. Preliminary reports confirm no injuries resulted from the incident, according to sources at the scene.
