Last weekend, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa organised a fund-raiser in Biarritz to collect money for her association "Stand Speak Rise Up!", which helps victims of rape in war-torn countries.

130 people, including outspoken victims of sexual violence, participated in the charity event, which took place in the city of Biarritz, second home of Luxembourg's Grand Ducal couple since 2020.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa founded the charity organisation Stand Speak Rise Up! in 2019 after organising a forum on sexual violence in Luxembourg, which drew close to 1,200 participants. The initial spark for the organisation stem from a meeting with Congolese gynaecologist Denis Mukwege, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018.
