The Ministry of Immigration and Asylum announced that 205 people filed for temporary protection last month, the majority of whom came from Syria, Eritrea, and Afghanistan.
In August, 101 people were granted refugee status in Luxembourg. A total of 172 decisions were taken last month. 15 people were sent back to another European country through the Dublin Regulation while one person arrived in the Grand Duchy thanks to the same system. 15 applicants of international protection were sent back to non-EU countries.
155 refugees from Ukraine filed for temporary protection in the month of August. Six people withdrew their applications in the same time period. 145 refugees from Ukraine were granted temporary protection, 35 demands, including some made in previous months, were denied.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, a total of 4,450 Ukrainians have filed a request for temporary protection. Some of them have in the meantime returned to their home country.
