Around 6.45am on Sunday, a motorist caused an accident in the Raemerich roundabout in Esch-sur-Alzette. The car came from Luxembourg City, entered the roundabout with too much speed, and crashed on top of the centre structure.

Two out of the five passengers were ejected from the car as a result of the crash, and both had to be hospitalised. The car itself caught fire and burnt down completely.

It later turned out that the woman behind the wheel was drunk and under the influence of drugs. She was arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office and presented to an examining magistrate later that same day.

In Dudelange, a motorist crashed into the side of a building. Police at the scene of the accident found that the man was drunk and lacked a driving license. The woman on the passenger seat, who was the owner of the vehicle, received a fine for allowing the man to get behind the wheel in his given state.

Police patrolling Luxembourg City’s Gare district witnessed a motorist skipping a red light. A check determined that the driver was drunk and lacked valid registration papers. Another motorist then came to the same traffic lights, but failed to drive despite them being green. Officers also checked this driver, who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The Police revoked the licenses of both men.
