The agency Luxinnovation helps companies modernise in areas of expansion and digitalisation. Through the ‘Fit 4' programmes, Luxinnovation supported 400 businesses and 200 startups last year.

The programmes are now set to undergo reforms to make them even more efficient. Digitalisation, innovation and sustainability will be the three focal points of this revision process.

During the presentation on Monday, Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot stressed the importance of properly collecting and analysing data: “We all know that data can help us be more efficient in all areas, whether it be health, digital health, mobility, industry 4.0, or craftsmanship. Everywhere we see data being the game changer that allows us to create a more competitive economy.”

Companies can benefit from digitalisation in many ways, for instance in keeping stock overviews. Increased sustainability is now also more important than ever, as the unfolding energy crisis demonstrates that resources need to be handled economically.

Luxinnovation director Sasha Baillie also provided insight into how the agency can support businesses: “We often start with energy consumption and ways to reduce it. Then we look at the use of resources, which depends on whether the business is involved in production or just in need of specific material. It can also help to consult external companies to analyse carbon emissions.”

Businesses can apply for government subsidies if they invest in resource-efficient technology. A new programme, called ‘Fit 4 Sustainability’, was thus launched to support businesses in the area of energy consumption, carbon emissions, and sustainability.

‘Fit 4 Digital’ is designed to help businesses protect from hacker attacks, while ‘Fit 4 Innovation’ is concerned with establishing more efficient business plans.
