Although Luxembourg's house prices remain high, there was a distinct drop off in growth in the last quarter of 2021, says Statec.
The latest Statec housing report, released on Thursday morning, showed that house and apartment prices in Luxembourg rose by 12% in the fourth quarter of 2021 - however, the increase was lower than the preceding trimesters. New-build apartments saw the highest increase in prices in comparison to other properties.
Generally, house prices rose 13.9% in 2021, compared to the previous year. In 2020, the yearly increase was 14.5%; in 2019 it was 10%.
In the Luxembourg canton alone, the average price for a house reached €1,450,000 last year - almost double the cost of an equivalent property in the north. The price per square metre depends primarily on the type of apartment in question, as well as the size and location, said Statec.
