Ministers Tanson, Bofferding, and Kox drew this conclusion in their response to a parliamentary enquiry filed by MPs Wilmes and Mosar from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV).

Thefts committed by minors have been on the rise, but so have those committed by adults, reveals the joint response of the three concerned ministers. They thus concluded that there is no evidence for organised gang crime of minors, which the police confirmed.

The ministers acknowledged that the frequency of thefts and armed assault committed by minors did experience a 50% increase last year, but this parallels the developments for similar crimes committed by adults, which rose by 48%. The response also underlines that youth violence, gang crime, and trafficking of minors should not be conflated.

The ministers conveyed that the police have recently forwarded one human trafficking case to the prosecutor's office.
