According to the latest figures reported by Eurostat, more than half of EU adults are overweight.

The recent report used figures calculated with the Body Mass Index (BMI), a measure of a person's weight to height ratio.
While figures showed that 45% of EU adults in 2019 were of a normal weight, 53% were considered overweight. Additionally, 17% of those falling within the overweight category are considered as obese.

Luxembourg joins France and Italy as the member states that boast the lowest shares, with only 48% of the Luxembourgish population being overweight. In contrast, the member states of Croatia and Malta have the highest shares, with 65% of adults classified as overweight in 2019.
