A drugs check was conducted by police around the central station area and Hollerich on Thursday as part of an on-going operation.

29 officers were accompanied by a sniffer dog during the 1.5 hour operation, in which they checked trains and buses. Four people were arrested by order of the prosecutor's office and brought before magistrates on Friday morning.

Three of the suspects underwent clinical examinations due to suspicions they were carrying drugs internally. Two examinations yielded positive results. The substances in question were confiscated.

Two others were arrested for drug possession, after cocaine was discovered among their belongings. In addition to this, six people were written up, and a search was conducted at a house in Pétange.  A total of 73 drug bullets, 17 grip bags containing cannabis products, €1250 in cash, 9 mobile phones, 3 forged documents (passport / identity card / residence permit) and various drug paraphernalia were confiscated.

On Wednesday, police discovered a large quantity of illegal drugs during a raid in the Pétrusse valley, where suspects had stashed cocaine and heroine in a hedge. The drugs were seized and an investigation launched as a result of the discovery.
