The Centre intégré pour personnes âgées (CIPA) resident in Rumelange received her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on her birthday.

Jacqueline Draut is a bit of a personality within the CIPA walls at the premises in the south of the country.

Having celebrated her 102nd birthday last Thursday, February 11, the bright as a button Draut is a breath of fresh air.

Born in 1919 in Paris, she arrived with her parents in Luxembourg at the age of three. Madame Draut then lived in Tétange where she had two children.

Part of a community of 62 residents in Rumelange,
Jacqueline assured the RTL team that neither the injection nor the vaccine scared her.

Since the second week of the year, all residents and staff of Servior establishments have been vaccinated.

The country's last residence will receive the first dose of the vaccine by next Friday (20 February).

Residents told RTL that they feel more secure thanks to the vaccine - the rate of vaccination among healthcare staff in nursing homes is now 60% across the Grand Duchy.

Two Servior residences are currently affected by a number of Covid-19 cases, but officials have assured that these people do not have serious symptoms and that the situation remains under control.
