In addition to the agreements for trade, various issues were also clarified for police and judicial cooperation, as well as in the area of social insurance for residents.
In an interview with RTL, Luxembourg's foreign minister Jean Asselborn, expressed his satisfaction that common ground has been found that guarantees fair competitiveness between both parties.
The agreement is to come into force provisionally on 1 January 2021, as there is not enough time at EU level before the British exit from the internal market. The European Parliament is also supposed to give a green light in the coming weeks.
The 27 member states are still supposed to agree to the agreement, as well as the British Parliament.
