The motorcyclist was travelling from Mertzig to Niederfeulen when he lost control of his bike at a corner.

The 44 year old Niederfeulen resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police examined the area closely to ascertain how the accident came about - it appeared the motorbike skidded, came off the road and landed in the ditch alongside the N21.

The prosecutor's office has requested an autopsy.

Mertzig and Ettelbruck firefighters were called to the site of the accident, alongside paramedics and Ettelbruck ambulance.
