The city of Paris recently enforced a speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour in most of its streets.
An irritation for some, an inspiration for others: running store Distance, located at the heart of Marais, used the opportunity of the new law for a creative stunt.
On 31 August, a group of "Outlaw Runners" made it their mission to get flashed by as many speed cameras as possible. A viral video shows how members of the group sprint through Parisian streets and manage to trigger the flashing cameras.
Images from the video were later used to advertise for the concept store. Naturally, the support of renowned French athletes, such as Léna Kandissounon (national champion over 800m) or Quentin Malriq (national youth champion over 1,500m) helped boost the campaign even further.
People will now be able to get an opportunity to test themselves against a real speed camera without any consequences. For a short period, a temporary camera will be installed in Rue des Filles du Calvaire, allowing people to see if they can breach the 30 km/h limit.
